Electroless nickel/PTFE

This treatment can be used in places where it is not possible to lubricate. Up to 20 % PTFE particles are embedded.

Electroless nickel/PTFE

Electroless NiP/PTFE is a nickel-phosphorus alloy with 9-12% phosphorus, in which up to 20% PTFE particles are embedded, which gives a good "slip effect" as well as low friction. Where at the same time part of the nickel's hardness is retained.
It has proven to be useful for the plating of fine mechanical parts where oil and grease lubrication have been unsuitable.

If desired, the hardness of the coating can be increased by heat treatment.

Typical Layer Thickness:

3-7µm Electroless Nickel/PTFE on 5-20µm Chemical Nickel.

Appearance:

Light to dark charcoal grey, matt surface.

Application:

At Chem-Tec Plating A/S, we have the opportunity to carry out a Electroless Nickel/PTFE coating on everything within fittings, valves, hydraulic components, transmission and pump parts, wear parts and welding jaws.

Material:

Steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, and aluminum can all be coated chemically with NiP/PTFE.

Suitability:

  • Weak electrical conductor
  • Good corrosion protection – depending on low thickness
  • Low friction

Setup method:

Fixtures or drums.
