Chrome has a hard and wear-resistant surface. At Chem-Tec Plating, chrome is used exclusively as a cosmetic finish.

Chrome plating

Chrome plating is a process used to achieve higher wear resistance, often by hard chrome plating the surface. However, at Chem-Tec Plating, we do not offer hard chrome plating.

Typical Layer Thickness:

0.1 – 0.3 µm

Appearance:

Glossy or matt, depending on the substrate.

Application:

At Chem-Tec Plating, we use chrome plating exclusively as a cosmetic coating.

Material:

We only use chrome as a top coating on nickel, both glossy and pearlescent nickel.

Combination coating:

The undercoating used for chrome is nickel or pearlescent nickel to achieve a better finish.

With an undercoating of nickel, it is also possible to coat stainless steel and aluminum with chrome.

Suitability:

Coating with chrome will harden the surface.

Setup method:

Fixture only.
