Nickel plating

A nickel coating provides excellent corrosion protection and a durable surface. The glossy surface is also used for decorative purposes.

Nickel plating

Nickel has a wear-resistant surface. Nickel provides a high finish with a glossy to matte appearance depending on the substrate. Nickel can stand alone as a surface treatment, but is most often used in conjunction with chrome and Tin/Ni coatings.

Nickel is also used as a base coating for stainless steel.

Typical layer thickness:

5 – 15µ

Appearance:

Light, greyish surface, semi-glossy to glossy surface.

The finish of the raw material (glossy, matte or glass-blasted) is of great importance for the end result.

When using high-gloss nickel, the processed item should be polished before coating.

Application:

At Chem-Tec Plating, we are able to coat stainless steel with nickel.

Nickel is often used in combination with gold, chrome, black chrome and anthracite to achieve a higher finish, but also to provide better corrosion protection and form a more wear-resistant coating.

Material:

Nickel can be precipitated on steel, copper and brass.

Combination coating:

Nickel can be combined with gold, chrome or anthracite depending on the desired color, finish and layer thickness.

Suitability:

Nickel offers partial protection against corrosion and provides a hard and scratch-resistant surface.

Setup Method:

Fixtures. Possibly drum.
