Nickel plating

A nickel coating provides excellent corrosion protection and a durable surface, which is also used for decorative purposes.

Nickel has a wear-resistant surface. Nickel provides a high finish that gives a glossy to matte appearance depending on the substrate. Nickel can stand alone as a surface treatment, but is most often used in conjunction with chrome and Tin/Ni coatings.

Nickel is also used as a base coating for stainless steel.
