Tin/nickel can be used in corrosive environments with e.g. hydrochloric or nitric acid. Tin/nickel is an alloy with 65 % tin and 35 % nickel.
Tin/Nickel
Tin/nickel consists of an alloy of 65 % tin and 35 % nickel. It is highly corrosion-resistant in both acidic and alkaline environments.
Tin/nickel is a good supplement or substitute for galvanic nickel, as it provides great hardness.
Typical layer thickness:
0.5 – 5µ
Appearance:
Light, glossy surface, similar to stainless steel. The color is uniform across the product.
The finish of the raw material is of great importance to the end result.
For example, a glossy or nickel-plated item yields a glossy end result, while a glassblasted item or an item coated with e.g., pearlescent nickel yields a matte end result.
Application:
Tin/nickel can be a substitute for nickel.
Today, it is typically used as a coating for water fittings, fire extinguishing nozzles, inductive sensors, etc.
Material:
Tin/nickel can be precipitated on nickel, copper, brass or steel.
Combination coating:
Tin/nickel can be made with or without underlying coatings. Typically, nickel or pearlescent nickel is used as the underlying coating to achieve a better finish.
With an underlying coating of nickel, it is also possible to coat stainless steel and aluminium with tin/nickel.
Suitability:
Dense and corrosion-resistant surface.
Setup Method:
Drum or fixtures.
